How to Make a Tabletop Styrofoam Waterfall
72Tabletop Styrofoam Waterfall
Styrofoam sheet
Styrofoam waterfall? Well, yes! You do not need to have an outdoor garden to have a waterfall. Your apartment is fine! Wouldn’t it be great to hear the gurgling sound of running water in your apartment or in your balcony? Don’t worry about not having rocks etc to make your waterfall . Just styrofoam and few pebbles will do!
You need:
- One sheet 1-1½ " Styrofoam
- Plaster
of paris -2 cups
- White cement - 2 cups
- Putty powder - 1 cup
- Fevicol or White Glue to mix
- Underwater pump kit
For Decoration:
- Pebbles
- Small stones
- Statues-like cherubs,fairies,birds,frogs etc.
- Plastic plants
Materials needed
Cut Styrofoam into desired pieces
Make a hole for the water tube
Stick them all with white glue
Step1.
This is the measurement I had used for the above waterfall. You can customize the measurement to whatever size you would like your waterfall to be!
Cut the styrofoam into-
14"x 5" = 1 no - For the back
11"x 5" = 1 no - For the step
8"x 5" = 1 no - For the step
6"x 5" = 1 no - For the step
9"x 6" = 1 no -For the left side
4"x 5" = 1 no -For the extra left side
12" x 6" = 1 no -For the right side
8" x 5" = 1 no -For the extra right side
3"x 4 " = 1 no -For the other extra right side.
Step 2.
Apply white glue, arrange and stick the steps.
Step 3.
Coat white glue on the sides as well and stick the side pieces.
Let it dry! Maybe 6-8 hours.
Step 4.
Now mix the plaster of paris, white cement and putty powder with the white glue.you may add a little water too to make it like a batter consistency.
Step 5.
Brush the batter on to the stuck and arranged styrofoam and smoothen with a palette knife for a smooth finish. Allow it to dry.
Spread the prepared mixture
Step 6.
When dry ,spread the white glue and stick on the pebbles and the tiny stones..according to your imagination or like the picture above.Whatever.It is your waterfall and you can decorate it as you like. Allow it to dry.
Step 7.
When dry ,place the styrofoam waterfall on a tiny stand or a stack of tiles and place it in a container.Decorate the container with small rocks and the plastic plants.Arrange the statues wherever you wish.
Step 8.
Fill the container with water.Place the underwater pump.Extend the tube to the hole
at the top of the waterfall.Switch on the water
pump!There..there..Your waterfall is cascading down!Enjoy
the soothing sound of the gurgling ripples of water whenever you want to calm
your mind! Relax and enjoy your water garden !:)
What is..
Plaster of Paris-A white powder that forms a paste when it is mixed with water and then hardens into a solid, used in making casts, molds, and sculpture-it is essentially gypsum cement(hemihydrated calcium sulfate)
White cement is similar to ordinary, gray cement in all respects except for its high degree of whiteness and it is somewhat more expensive than the gray product.
Putty powder-A fine lime cement used as a finishing coat on plaster.
Have fun making your own tabletop waterfall!

That would make a cool little centerpiece for a party table.

What a beautiful waterfall!!! I would never have dreamed of using styrofoam this is a great hub and I love crafts so this is a must try for me. :)
A great hib for the whole family to do. Beautiful art project. thanks for posting it!
What an awesome hub! I read your directions and they are extremely easy to follow - thank you thank you! I always wanted a waterfall in my house, but have been unwilling to pay for something that doesn't quite measure up to my artistic tastes (guess I'm just too picky lol!) I love your model :D thanks again!
Very interesting and imaginative. A great and easy to do project. I used styrofoam (I also call it Jablo) this Christmas to make a Crib in much the same way, white glue to stick it together, etc. Cheers.
Good piece of hub, thanks for sharing.
